Festival of Colors

Festival of Colors

Every year in India there is a festival of colors that announces the arrival of Spring and the passing of Winter. Here in the US we went to the Hindu Temple in Spanish Fork, UT to celebrate. The festival of colors consists of buying color powder and throwing it at everyone! We went with white shirts so you could really see the colors. We paid $3 to get in and bought $12 for 5 packs of colors… We ended up buying 10 packs :).

Every hour on the hour they have a count down in which everyone throws the colors into the air. In between that we just walked around throwing colors at everyone and getting chalk thrown at us. You pretty much are covered in different colors in the first 10 min of being there.

As we walked out we saved some extra chalk to throw at the new comers coming in. If you haven’t been to a festival of colors, I highly recommend it. I took swimming goggles to use the whole time. I didn’t want to get anything in my eyes… especially with my contacts. Just remember that you end up dying your shirt pink… so take a shirt you don’t care about!
